New podcast-"A Life of Desire"

"A life of desire" 11/12/08
Is desire a snare to be avoided or the instrument through which God leads us into our very identity and calling? Jim talks about what the Church has done with desire and what God is really inviting us into.
C.S. Lewis said, "Creatures are not born with desires unless satisfaction for those desires exists."

I had never heard the term, "packhorse Christian" before but it sure does describe the mentality that I lived by when I was overinvolved in church activities. Thank you for using that term in your podcast. It opened up a closet in my soul that needs to be cleaned out.
Hi Fran,
Sometimes you can tell the ones who are the packhorses, for it will show in their faces and eyes. A light has gone out, and a weariness of body and soul becomes their "presenting symptom."
Enjoyed the podcast Jim. Ditto what you said about packhorse Christians. I have found that most of my Christianity has been lived from my head and not y heart. My life began to change when I began to live life from my heart and not my head.
So often Christians tell me that their heart is still wicked. I have told people that if your heart is wicked then you'd better not try to walk out Proverbs 3:5.. better to lean on your own understanding than to trust a wicked heart.
I've subscribed to your blog and plan to come back.
Shalom, Bob
